This property, bought by Don Domingo Vea Santclement in 1942, was home to approximately 350 Arbequina olive trees. Over the years, the family purchased more acreage from adjacent estates and now has over 3,250 Arbequina olive trees! The average Arbequina olive tree on the Les Costes estate is 200 years old. As a result of increased age, productivity is reduced by about 20 kilos per tree. The region's lack of rain further reduces the estate's harvest. Les Costes is known for being difficult to access and farming is therefore complicated. The end result is well worth it! The region's soil is incredibly rich in minerals making Les Costes Estate Oil a truly outstanding liquid gem.
For Generations, the name Vea has stood for the highest standards of quality in the cultivation of olives and the pressing of extra-virgin olive oils. Senor Avelino Vea, who now runs the family business, has maintained and elevated those standards by introducing the latest production techniques. He has also deliberately preserved the traditional methods of cultivation and blending, as well as the integrity of the oils that bear the Vea family name. As a result, Vea has earned recognition among the world's most discerning chefs and restaurateurs who value the oil for its fine and subtle flavor & consistency.
